Pro MFA fights at FIU
MFA fights at the FIU U.S. century bank arena were a huge success our very own Josh Mercado put on a display of his superior striking ability and picked his opponent Ryan Hayes apart. Ryan can into the fight undefeated with a professional 1-0 mixed martial arts record. Ryan tried to close the distance and use wrestling and jiu-jitsu to bring down Josh but he did a great job at defending the takedowns. Josh landed some sick leg kicks and some high flying head kicks, and almost finished the fight with a guillotine . Round 3 looked to be the same when Josh caught Ryan in a Darce choke to finish the fight by submission and bring his professional mixed martial arts record to a perfect 2-0. Look for big things from Josh Mercado this kid is extremely talented.
Just want to take the time to clear some things up!
Just want to take the time to clarify some things about the sport I love. The sport you see on TV where two guys are fighting in a cage is called MMA this stands for Mixed Martial Arts, It’s a combination of a boxing, wrestling, muay thai kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, and judo. Back in the days when they first started MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) it was usually some one that was a master of 1 of these arts competing against some one that was a master of a different art. For example and the most common they would put a (striker) such as a master of muay thai against a (ground guy) such as a jiu-jitsu specialist. As the sport evolved these masters started to cross train and become experts in all these arts, this is sometimes considered to be the art of Freestyle fighting. In my opinion the most important and dominant arts that you need to be fluent in are boxing, wrestling and some jiu-jitsu. Hope this is clearing some things up for you. Now the UFC stands for the (Ultimate Fighting Championship) this is not the style of fighting this is a promotional company and a sanctioning organization it is considered to be the super bowl of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). Hope I have cleared things up for you and oh ya by the way Professional wrestling is fake, but that’s a whole other story.
2 of our fighters brought home championship belts
Feb 5th 2011 Super Brawl 6 was a huge success last night in Deerfield Beach.
First of them to compete was Jason Telus vs the current champ and undefeated fighter Henrick Zabados fighting out of Palm Beach Boxing. Jason telus put on a display of superior striking through combinations and good movement. He clearly won every round but for some strange reason and to everyone’s surprise it was a split decision, either way he got the victory and striped the champ of his belt. Jason is now the current South Florida supper middle weight Muay Thai Champion. Look out for this guy he is going to go far in this sport.
Second of our fighters to step into the cage was Anthony Garavito vs Alberto Yaguares of (ATT) American Top Team. This was a big challenge for Anthony going into this fight since it looked like he was severely out matched, Alberto is a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jui-Jitsu and Anthony is only a white belt. Anthony put on a clinic of superior striking and take down defense then got out of 2 very deep submissions. Anthony won by a once again surprising split decision to become the south Fl. welterweight MMA champion. The tattoo on his chest “NO QUARTER” says it all. This guy is a warrior.
